The Weald BHG has held a series of fundraising activities over the last 12 months on behalf of the special needs school.

These included a successful summer jazz evening using the High Sheriff of Kent Mrs Jane Ashton’s marquee, which raised almost £6,500.

Last Friday the group presented a cheque for £18,230 to Principal Vaughan Jackson at Meadows Junior School in Sandhurst Lane.

All money raised will support the provision of playground equipment at the Ravensdale Campus, which opened in June.

Mr Jackson said: “We are sincerely grateful to all members of the Weald BHG and their supporters who have raised such a phenomenal amount of money for Meadows Junior School.

“We were delighted when Meadows School extended its provision for children with additional special needs aged seven to 11, and we are sure the children are going to enjoy their new playground.”

Meadows Junior School accepts girls and boys who have an Education, Health and Care Plan or are in the process of obtaining one.
