Melody, who played a mother of three with another on the way in the series, gave birth to her real-life second child there this year, and spoke highly about her experiences at the highly rated unit.
The Friends of Crowborough Hospital donated more than £120,000 to facilitate the renovation, providing a comfortable and tranquil experience for new mothers.
The opening was also attended
by Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust [MTW] Chief Executive Miles Scott, and Dr Kate Stokes, President of the Friends of Crowborough Hospital.
The birthing centre has seen a 16 per cent increase in mothers choosing to have their babies at the unit this year ,with 181 babies delivered in the 12 months up to March.
The Birth Centre’s Manager Karen Leeson said: “We provide midwifery-led, women-centred care to all women throughout Kent and East Sussex, giving them choice in their place of birth.”
She added: “A huge thank you to the Friends of Crowborough Hospital for their support and generous donation. Everyone has worked really hard to make the rooms as comfortable and uplifting as possible.
“Special thanks also to all the midwives and maternity support workers for their ongoing professional and excellent care provided to women and their families.”
