STAFF at B&Q Tunbridge Wells have helped to raise £11,707 for charity in memory of one of the company’s regional managers. Fourteen stores across Kent and Sussex have raised the sum for Pancreatic Cancer UK after Tommy Clancy died from the disease two years ago.
Tommy had worked for B&Q for over 30 years and was a much loved and respected member of the do-it-yourself chain of stores. The Tunbridge Wells branch took part in a sponsored cycling challenge, clocked up 562 miles on a rowing machine in the store and held a successful raffle, raising a total of £1,292.
Paul Ritchie, Unit Manager at B&Q Tunbridge Wells, said: “It’s great to see how our fundraising efforts have contributed to such a significant donation for Pancreatic Cancer UK in memory of Tommy.
“I’d like to thank the team here at B&Q Tunbridge Wells for getting stuck into the rowing challenge, as well as our customers and friends of the store who donated so generously.” Gary Hatton, B&Q Regional Manager for Kent and Sussex, added: “Tommy was an inspirational leader and encouraged so many colleagues to work harder and strive to be better people. We all remember him fondly. B&Q feels like a big family.”
