TWENTY-THREE staff at Brooks Macdonald’s office in Tunbridge Wells pedalled 240 miles from Waterloo Station in London to Waterloo in Belgium to raise money for two cycling charities. The challenge involved cycling 80 miles a day from September 1-3 and the riders raised more than £17,000, including £5,000 donated through the Brooks Macdonald Foundation.
The beneficiaries are Wheels for Wellbeing, based in South London, which helps disabled people to enjoy the benefits of cycling, and World Bicycle Relief, an international charity that distributes bicycles to disaster victims, healthcare workers, students and entrepreneurs.
Pam Beith, Head of Brooks Macdonald in Tunbridge Wells, said: “Our staff successfully rose to the challenge and all managed to make it over the finish line in Waterloo, Belgium. “We are proud to have raised over £17,000 and to have generated further awareness for these wonderful charities and the amazing work that they do.”
Investment Manager Sam Durnell added: “I was excited to take part in the challenge, especially as it was for such worthy causes. “Although at times it was tough going and very tiring, reaching Waterloo in Belgium, along with the rest of the team, was a real achievement.”
