Bus pass price hike

Kent County Council has struck a deal with local bus operators which will see the cost of an annual Young Person’s Travel Pass rise by £20 in September, to £270.

The eight per cent rise is far in excess of inflation, but Matthew Balfour, KCC Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, argued it still represents ‘excellent value for money’.

Those on low incomes will still benefit from passes charged at £100 for a full year and £50 for a half year, while consecutive passes for more than one child will remain free of charge.
