Nourish Community Foodbank has doubled its storage area as the number of people needing their support increased during 2018. It is expected up to 150 families will be needing their help this Christmas.
“The community contributions through this last year and the many events we have been invited to along with their own fundraising campaigns that have donated to us have been amazing” said Dawn Stanford, Operations Manager of Nourish Community Foodbank.
She said they are now working with over 115 front line agencies to deliver support to Tunbridge Wells’ families who are struggling financially.
“From the feedback we get from clients, I know that what Nourish gives is so much more than a food bag, it’s a lifeline, a hug, an act of kindness from a stranger when you feel like there is no way up.
“We couldn’t do what we do without the generous support we receive and our wonderful team of volunteers.”
She said the charity hopes to increase its youth involvement in 2019 following a number of sessions for under 18’s who are passionate about helping their local community
“Tunbridge Wells was recently voted the 9th happiest place to live in the UK and one of the main reasons cited was “community spirit,” she said.
“We, at Nourish are not surprised by this as Tunbridge Wells so often steps up to look after its most vulnerable neighbours and has a thriving volunteer organisation community, so our new year wish is for more people to support us.”
