Cancer charity closes doors but keeps its 'ears open'
Staff at the Pickering Centre in Tunbridge Wells

Volunteers at the centre in Monson Road, Tunbridge Wells, help and support around 3,000 people a year whose lives have been touched by cancer.

“It was the hardest decision we have had to take since we opened the doors to the centre fifteen years ago and it breaks our hearts,” said Co-founder Polly Taylor, “but we were left with little choice; we could not put our clients or our volunteers at risk from catching the virus.”

However, Polly and her right hand person Gaynor Ratcliffe will still be on hand to offer advice and support.

“The centre might be closed, but not our ears,” said Polly.  “Gaynor and I will be available to people on the phone to help them to get through these challenging times.”

The Pickering team will re-open the centre ‘as soon as is practical”.

The numbers to ring are: 01892 511880.  079316 70265

Lines will be open to everyone between 10am and 3pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday.
