The Royal Tunbridge Wells Round Table presented a share of the takings to 35 separate causes at a giveaway event at the Royal Wells Hotel on Sunday [March 24].
Around 12,000 people attended the 62st annual display on November 4 last year, and the money came from both ticket sales and donations made on the night.
The Mayor, Len Horwood, made the presentation last Sunday to a number of worthy causes, including Oakley School, Tunbridge Wells Welcomes Refugees, Sherwood Men’s Shed, The Number One Community Trust, DAVSS, Community Car Service, COMPAID, TW Crisis Revovery, IMAGO, and TWMHR (mental health hub).
Charity Committee Chair Daldeep Jaswal said, “We are only able to donate to these worthy causes as a result of the generosity of the people from and around Tunbridge Wells in supporting the Dunorlan Park fireworks each year.”
Chairman Kim Hartlev added: “After a successful 61st firework display, we were in the position of being able to donate to a variety of worthy causes.
“The time and effort that these volunteers put into their respective charities is commendable. I’d also like to thank Mayor Horwood, Buss Murton Law, Tonbridge Round Table, Pantiles Rotary, St John Ambulance, volunteers from TWGGS and various Scouts groups for their support.”
Royal Tunbridge Wells Round Table hope to donate further funds during the year. They are also known for investing their own time and manpower in community projects.
