The Cosmo restaurant on Grosvenor Road was shut on Monday morning after it was deemed to pose ‘an imminent and significant risk to food safety.’
A visit from the Borough Council’s environmental health team resulted in the immediate closure of the all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant.
An application has now been filed to the magistrates’ court for a Hygiene Emergency Prohibition Order. This can be lifted when the court or enforcing authority is satisfied that suitable steps have been taken to ensure the health risks are no longer present.
Cosmo is part of a national chain and was awarded a Food Hygiene Rating of 5 (Very Good) in September 2014.
