THE Cosmo restaurant on Grosvenor Road is set to be transformed into a large, American-style ice cream parlour this summer.
The US chain Creams Café, which specialises in desserts, will be opening one of its largest UK branches in the town in May – at 5,000 sq ft – as one of five in Kent.
Cosmo, an all-you-can-eat Oriental buffet, was shut in September last year after a damning report by the environmental health officer from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council. The inspection revealed there was ‘poor maintenance of routine cleaning, poor structural condition, and drainage defect in the basement kitchen resulting in a significant risk of food contamination’.
