Borough Council Leader David Jukes was this week fined for parking illegally outside the town hall.
He has a permit allowing him to leave his vehicle in one of the bays allocated to councillors on business.
However, Cllr Jukes forgot to switch the permit from his Land Rover to his Jaguar, which has been a familiar site outside the town hall for several years.
An eagle-eyed warden promptly slapped a ticket on the Jaguar – which the Council Leader also promptly paid, reducing the fine from £50 to £25. He has now taped the Penalty Notice to his office door – sending the message that there are no exceptions when it comes to parking.
