Cripps honoured for General Data Protection Regulation campaign

Managers of Tunbridge Wells law firm Cripps are celebrating the recognition of their General Data Protection Regulation [GDPR] campaign.

The Mount Ephraim-based company were presented with a prize at this month’s LexisNexis Legal Awards 2018 in London’s Sheraton Grand London Park Lane hotel.

Cripps won the Award for Business Development, which honours those responsible for pioneering and implementing exceptional business development and marketing programmes.

The GDPR campaign, which was launched in September 2017, was designed to assist clients and contacts with their preparations for the new Eropean-wide data protection law, which comes into effect on May 25.

Irfan Baluch, a partner in the commercial team who is leading the initiative, said: “This is a fantastic achievement and we are delighted to pick up this award.

“Our approach to the campaign has been focused on our clients’ needs, cutting through the complexity of GDPR and telling them what they really need to know.”

He added: “This has been a true team effort and we are delighted with the success of the campaign so far, and this award reaffirms that we are getting it right.”

Cripps is a UK Top 100 firm with a turnover
of £29.2million and also has offices in Kings Hill and London.

The firm said their GDPR campaign took ‘a multi-channel approach’ and included the development of an online guide to data protection.

Barrister-Direct, CMS and Womble Bond Dickinson were also finalists for the award.

Mr Baluch added: “The materials provided in the campaign were supported by workshops, seminars and a social media campaign.”

All entries to the LexisNexis Legal Awards 2018 were judged by 26 legal experts, including Martin Barnes, Chief Executive of LawWorks and Tim Bellis, of Cambridge Judge Business School.
