SIMON COURT from Langton Green was put through a gruelling regime ahead of running the London Marathon on behalf of Barnardo’s next month.
Simon had the chance to train with Olympic decathlon double gold medallist Daley Thompson as part of his preparations for the race on April 23.
They are both part of the Barnardo’s marathon team raising money to transform the lives of the UK’s most vulnerable children.
Simon, Chief Executive of London management consultancy Value Partnership, will be running his first full marathon in memory of his father, who died in 2010.
“Dad was an orphan and was taken in by Barnardo’s from an early age, in the 1920s,” said Simon. “It gave him a home and saved his life.
“He was later adopted and went on to become a Royal Navy officer in the war, a Headmaster at Claverham Community College in Battle, warden of the Pestalozzi Children’s Village in Sedlescombe – and a brilliant dad.”
