BUSINESSES in Grosvenor Road laid on a charity event last month to raise money for the Pickering Cancer Dropin Centre in Tunbridge Wells.
Denny’s Place barbers, 14 Arrows tattoo parlour and The Beauty Rooms salon joined forces to raise £3,680 for the centre, which provides counselling and therapies for people with cancer and their families.
Denny’s offered haircuts for £5, the tattooists in the basement created designs for £30, and there were cakes and children’s games at The Beauty Rooms.
The event lasted 13 hours and featured live music, a bar and barbecue.
At the age of 72, Pickering co-founder Polly Taylor had her first ever tattoo. She said: “I had it done to show my love for all the guys there for what they had done for Pickering, and also for the people who have helped us over the years.”
