Councillors were being urged to reject a proposal to build 14 flats because they would dominate Pembury village green.
Officers from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council recommended that the planning application for 3 High Street, on the junction of Camden Avenue, should be turned down due to its scale, bulk, height and positioning next to a designated Area of Important Open Space.
Tunbridge Wells’ Planning Committee was due to decide on Wednesday August 17, as the Times went to press.
There were 52 objections to the plan by Launch Pad Developments, which included replacing the existing car sales showroom with a four-storey block of 14 flats.
