Amy Lawrence was taken aback when she looked out of her office window in Tunbridge Wells last week and saw a proposal of marriage.
Her finance Alex Kelly had arranged for the message – ‘Amy will you marry me’ – to be put up on the front of the Assembly Hall theatre on Friday.Â
Mr Kelly, 38, popped the question after messaging Ms Lawrence, who works in the AXA PPP Healthcare offices opposite the venue on Crescent Road.
“I told her all the women were congregating around the windows of her offices and she should go and see what was happening,” said Mr Kelly.
“She was amazed. She said it was the most wonderful thing that had ever happened to her. Of course she said ‘yes’.
“I had been wracking my brain for an inventive way of asking her,” he added. “How could she possibly turn me down?”
The happy couple, who met through online dating nine months ago, have yet to set a date. “We are going to get Christmas out of the way first,” said Mr Kelly. “It’s our first one together.”
The Assembly Hall, which is showing the pantomime Snow White, tweeted: “Congratulations Amy & Alex 4 their marriage proposal earlier today we love a happy ending #PantoDay.”
