Matilda Wright received life-saving treatment at King’s College Hospital (KCH) when she was just four, after an eye test revealed a swollen optic nerve which turned out to be a brain tumour.
She underwent multiple operations over ten nights before being able to return home but was back at school part-time a couple of weeks later.
Now she has been chosen to lead the 18-mile 2022 Great Hospital Hike on September 17, which the King’s College Hospital Charity hopes will raise £80,000 from over 400 hospital staff, patients, volunteers, friends and family members.
Matilda and her family have already raised nearly £2,000 to support King’s hospitals, and her mother, Sam Wright, said: “King’s were absolutely incredible and we were all treated with the utmost care and compassion during a very scary and worrying time.
