An operation by the Metropolitan Police led to the arrest of two men this morning after an armoured van was robbed near Langton Green.
A high speed chase involving the flying squad in unmarked cars ensued when the men fled the scene of the crime, which took place at the Spire Tunbridge Wells Hospital on Fordcombe Road, in a red Volkswagen Polo GTI.
The suspects were pursued through Rusthall before crashing into a fence on Manor Road at around 11.30am.
One suspect, believed to have been a 40-year-old male, was bought down by a taser on nearby Erskine Road before being arrested.
A second man, 31, was later discovered in a wheelie bin after being spotted by a Police Helicopter.
All money from the crime has been recovered, with local support being provided by Kent Police.
DI Nick Blackburn, from the Flying Squad, said: “Today’s operation is a great example of the Flying Squad’s commitment to disrupting serious and organised criminals from carrying out cash in transit robberies throughout London and the home counties.”
