The reservoir and beauty spot played host to a corporate client day organised by local insurance company Markerstudy Group.
A hundred guests were at the event and were invited to take part in a range of activities, from cycling and fishing to laser tag, but it was karting that proved the most popular.
“Where else in Kent can you find a venue combining laser shooting, go-karting, fishing, off-road cycling, and 13 miles of scenic rambling?” said Lizzie Smith-Foreman, Director of Group Marketing and Communications at Markerstudy Group.
“We were able to provide something for everyone.”
She said a temporary 600m kart circuit was created using existing roads around the reservoir.
This was complete with deformable crash barriers and tyres placed strategically around the route and guests were invited to compete in 15 single-engine Biz karts supplied by Teesside Karting, who provided all the necessary equipment and staff to run the ‘off-site’ race.
While Lewis Hamilton can probably rest easy in his bed, the petrol-powered 200cc karts are still capable of speeds up to 55 mph, which enabled one of the guests to set a fastest lap of 42.013 seconds.
“Bewl Water provided all the ingredients for a wonderful corporate event, and exceeded our expectations,” said Smith-Foreman.
“We’ve received huge praise from our 100 or so guests, many already asking if we’ve fixed a date for the same event next year.”
