Olympic Champion Victoria Pendleton led the way when 4,000 people set out on the Clinique Run or Dye event at Penshurst Place on Sunday.
It was billed as ‘the world’s most colourful 5km’ event with participants having the choice of running, walking or even dancing their way along the route.
The cycling gold medallist helped to host Run or Dye and took to the stage to share her message of empowerment of ‘never limiting yourself’ and ‘making one difference’ – hoping to inspire women to make a difference in the world, in their community or in their personal life.
“It was fantastic seeing so many people out making one difference – whether to their fitness or by raising money, and with everybody really enjoying themselves, she said.”
More than £10,000 was raised for various charities and one of those to benefit from the day was Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Kiss It Better appeal.
Victoria Pendleton is a children’s charity ambassador for the hospital and a supporter of the Kiss it Better appeal, which helps to fund research into children’s cancers at Great Ormond Street. Her twin brother was cared for by the hospital when being treated for childhood cancer as a young boy.
Participants were showered with eco-friendly, plant-based cornstarch dye in a rainbow of colours as they ran through five dye and music stations around the course.
