The annual 10K run for Hospice in the Weald is hoping to attract more than 1,000 runners on Sunday September 25.
Last year, more than 500 participants managed to raise almost £50,000 for the local charity.
This year’s run starts at the Lower Cricket Ground on Tunbridge Wells Common. Spectators will be entertained with activities and stalls.
The route takes participants through Langton Green, down to High Rocks and back to the Common. There will be road closures in place to keep the runners safe.
Olympic distance running legend Dame Kelly Holmes, who lives in Hildenborough and will start the race, said: “The Hospice 10K is one of my favourite events. I am so excited to be opening the event for such a worthwhile charity.
“Not only is it highly organised and professional, but it is also a great way of giving something back to a charity that is integral to our local community.”
Hospice in the Weald is not part of the NHS and relies heavily on the community it serves to raise the £7million it needs each year.
Thanks to sponsors Savills and Countryside, 90p in every £1 made from the 10K run will go directly to supporting patients, families and their carers.
Adults can enter the race for a fee of £30, with a £23 entrance for runners from affiliated clubs and £15 for children aged 12-16, who must be accompanied by an adult.
