JOHN DE VIAL, from Southborough, ran four and a half marathons last week in support of the Family Holiday Association (FHA).
The charity provides breaks for UK families struggling with issues such as disability, severe and sudden illness, bereavement, mental health issues and domestic violence.
John has collected almost £50,000 for the FHA in the four years he has been running on behalf of the association.
The 54-year-old completed the London Marathon on April 23 in 6hr 20min 55sec. He then ran four sets of 10km commutes to Tonbridge and back.
And last Sunday he completed his gruelling endurance feat by taking part in the 106km Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge.

John’s training regime for a full marathon involved running from his home in Southorough to Dame Kelly Holmes’ Cafe 1809 in Hildenborough, through Tonbridge Park, around Haysden Lake and over Bidborough Ridge, back into Southborough and on to the Spa Hotel in Tunbridge Wells, over the Common, through to High Brooms and home again.
Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of John’s first race over the full distance, the London Marathon of 1988 when he supported the Princes Trust.
