Local superhero joins Crazy Kart cause

Ringpull Man will be joining in the fun at the Crazy Jeans Kart Race

Tunbridge Wells’ very own superhero, Ringpull Man, has joined forces with the Crazy Jean’s Kart Race, taking place in Dunorlan Park on Saturday 16 June.

The costumed hero said he was delighted to be able to support the races, which will see 40 karts going head to head to raise cash for charities Hospice in the Weald and hospice at home ellenor.

Ringpull Man, who is famous in the town for travelling on a motorised unicycle to collect ringpulls for charity, is the latest local celebrity to support the June event powered by insurance company Markerstudy.

He will be joined by TV chef Rosemary Shrager, who is launching the races, and Tom Swift of pantomime producers Wicked Productions, who will be providing the day’s commentary.

Organiser Garry Jeffery said: ‘Ringpull Man will be joining our incredible line-up on the day. He’s a local hero and the kart races are all about supporting the community – and who better to be coming along to lend their support to this wacky, charitable event.

‘We would love our visitors to help Ringpull Man on the day by saving their ring pulls and bringing them along – there will be collection buckets at all entrances.’

Ringpull Man collects ring pulls from cans for the charity Purple Community Fund, which runs projects to help children living on rubbish dumps in the Philippines. By involving schools and businesses across the town, the superhero collects hundreds of the pulls and ships them to the Philippines, where locals turn them into crafts to be sold.

It’s another amazing cause that deserves our community’s support. We are really looking forward to seeing Ringpull Man appear at the races and hope it will add to the fun of the day

The one-day Crazy Jean’s family fun day is set to have a music stage, food village and children’s entertainment, including crafts by Freckles & Fire, bouncy castles, face painting and storytelling by award-winning author Giles Paley-Phillips.

Forty soapbox carts each sponsored and manned by local businesses and community groups will go head to head in the day of races which is set to push fundraising for the local charities into overdrive.
