Voting patterns among Tunbridge Wells Labour Party members at the leadership elections roughly reflected the national picture, according to the local chairman.
Andrew Sharp said reaction to Jeremy Corbyn’s victory last Saturday was ‘mixed’.
He believed established members – those who joined before Mr Corbyn’s first election as leader in May 2015 – had been more likely to support rival contender Owen Smith, while an ‘overwhelming’ majority of new members supported his leadership.
He added: “There were some members who supported Mr Corbyn last year, but did not this time. It is those who have joined in overwhelming numbers in the last 16 months who are most enthusiastic about Mr Corbyn.”
