THE branch of Marks & Spencer at Tunbridge Wells Fountains Retail Park has raised more than £4,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The sum was the result of a month of fundraising events, culminating in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning in the store’s café on September 29. One team member, Chloe Vincent, agreed to the ‘brave the shave’ hair challenge, and several others took on ‘The Thames Row’, covering a 100- mile distance on a static rowing machine in the store.
M&S has partnered with Macmillan Cancer Support for eight years, and in 2016 they raised £3.2million – enough to fund 66 Macmillan healthcare professionals for a year.
The store donated ten per cent from sales of a variety of tasty treats from the M&S foodhall, 5p from all hot drinks and cakes in the café, and all profits from a range of bag accessories designed by artist Rob Ryan.
Store Manager James Smith said: “I want to thank both our loyal customers and my M&S colleagues for pulling out all of the stops on Friday to help make our Coffee Morning such a huge success.
“It was great to see the local Tunbridge Wells community joining in the fun.”
