Noisy nursery forces ‘relaxing’ Salt Cave to close after ten years

The Salt Cave in Vale Road, near to Tunbridge Wells Station, has provided its remedial treatment for nearly ten years.

The centre simulates a natural salt cave microclimate, which is said to be able to treat a range of respiratory and skin conditions.

According to the Salt Cave’s website, clients go to the centre to ‘relax in one of our treatment rooms, where customers inhale the dry, salt-enriched air deep down into the lungs, where the healing benefits do their greatest healing.’

However, Green Cave Day Nursery on the same floor in the former Post Office building has also proved popular with Tunbridge Wells’ mum and dads, due to its handy location next to the train station, and it has grown continuously since it opened in 2012.

Both business are run by the same owners, but manager Beverly Davies has said they are now going to have to close the salt treatment centre due to the growth of the nursery business as clients are unable to relax in the salt treatment room.

She told clients in an email: “We have made this decision with a heavy heart; however we have reviewed the business and with the nursery growing we are increasingly aware that this can have a negative impact on the relaxation that is experienced within the Salt Cave.”

She added that the company’s Earlsfield branch in London will remain open but the Tunbridge Wells Salt Cave will close on Friday July 19, 2019.

She continued: “We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your
support and wish you all the best for the future.”
