THE offices of community interest company Royal Tunbridge Wells Together have become a new town centre drop-off point for the Nourish Community Foodbank.
Donations of canned and other non-perishable foods, as well as pet food and toiletries, will be transported by the organisation to the Nourish site at Big Yellow Storage on Longfield Road.
Nourish Community Foodbank helps people who are experiencing hardship by supplying them with food and other essential items. Each of their bags provides three days’ support.
Nourish works closely in the community with GP surgeries, housing associations and local charities who establish that there is a real need and make the necessary referrals to to the foodbank.
RTW Together Town Centre Manager Karen Pengelly said: “September has historically been a time of harvest and plenty. This year, Royal Tunbridge Wells Together is working with local food businesses promoting restaurants and food festivals and everything food-related [see p31]. “It seems entirely appropriate that we are not just focused on ourselves but thinking about helping others, too.
“We are really happy to help Nourish, and hope that by providing a drop zone in a highly visible place it will boost the number of donations.” RTW Together is supported by Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and a number of town businesses.
? The RTW Together donation point is in Ely Court, which is part of Royal Victoria Place. The offices are open from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday.
