The Mascalls Court Farm project has been given the green light from Tunbridge Wells Borough Council as part of proposals that could see 1,000 homes constructed in the town.
Alongside the properties, a primary school will be built to accommodate demand.
Locals have long-since expressed concern about building on Mascalls Court Road area, which is on flood plain land.
Cllr Carol Williams, of Paddock Wood Town Council, previously told the Times: “Our concern is about the management of the sewage and foul waste with facilities already at capacity.”
And in the latest planning documentation, made available last week, the Borough Council has addressed this in their support.
Condition 16 to their granting of permission reads:
“No excavation or construction work shall take place until details of measures to protect any on-site public sewers present within that part of the site have been approved by the council.
“This is to avoid pollution of the surrounding area. Such details are fundamental to the application and therefore required prior to its commencement.”
