UNDER-FIRE rail franchise holder Southeastern is set to benefit from a share of a £425million investment.
The company has entered an agreement with Network Rail and Arriva Rail London called ‘In Partnership for Britain’s Prosperity – South East London and Kent’.
This will see networks in the region provide 150 new staff, 25 new apprenticeships and space for 40,000 more rush hour customers by April 2019.
Southeastern will be hoping the improvements will lead to greater satisfaction from customers, with latest statistics showing that just 41 per cent of whom considered the network ‘good value’.
Leaders from all the companies involved in the new partnership gathered at Rochester railway station last week to announce plans. A press statement said the agreement would deliver £9.2billion of additional economic benefit across the South East.
On Tuesday [July 10] Network Rail and Govia Thameslink Railway issued an apology after May’s timetable changes resulted in significant delays and cancellations.
