Surprise birthday party for 101-year-old Kit

The Mead School in Tunbridge Wells gave a professional level performance in the ISA drama contests

A RETIRED dressmaker from Tonbridge celebrated her 101st birthday with a surprise birthday cake delivered by staff from her home care provider.

Kit Brown was born on May 13, 1917, 184 days before the end of World War I. Care Supervisors Ruth Meakin and Debbie Holmburg arrived on her doorstep with a white chocolate cake and a purple orchid.

Ruth said: ‘It was really lovely to visit Kit to celebrate her birthday.

‘There are some great benefits to working in care and doing this was certainly one, as we could see that she was truly touched by our visit.

‘Kit’s daughter Laura and son-in-law Andy were there when we visited and were really touched that we had thought about visiting her to celebrate her birthday.

‘We could see that it made a real difference.’
