A 16-YEAR-OLD boy has been charged with attempted murder after a teenager was stabbed in Grosvenor and Hilbert Park last week.
The attack happened around 2.30pm last Wednesday (June 1) when police were called to the Tunbridge Wells park after reports a man had been stabbed.
The victim, described by Kent Police as a ‘teenager’, was found with stab wounds.
He was taken to a London hospital where his condition was described as ‘serious but stable’.
A 16-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons was later arrested and charged with attempted murder. He remains in custody.
Four other teenagers were also arrested in connected with the incident but have since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 2.30pm on Wednesday, June 1, to Grosvenor and Hilbert Park where a teenager had an injury consistent with a stab wound.
“He was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
“On the following day a 16-year-old boy from Tunbridge Wells, was arrested. He was charged on Saturday, June 4 with attempted murder and possessing an offensive weapon in a public place.”
Detective Inspector Jim Farley, of Tonbridge CID, added: “Our officers are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident and are urging witnesses who have not yet spoken to the police to call the appeal line.
“We are also asking anybody with mobile phone footage of the incident to contact us.’
