Tunbridge Wells choir hits right notes for brain tumour month

THE INCHOIR of Tunbridge Wells has raised more than £700 during a month-long campaign on behalf of the charity Brain Tumour Research.

One of its members was diagnosed with the condition last year and she alerted her fellow choristers that March was a Brain Tumour Research awareness month.

Choirmaster Mark Heppell said: “She’s a very popular member of our choir so her colleagues thought it would be good to raise money for a charity which is very close to her heart.”

Events included a book raffle and a cake sale – those that were left over were finished off by the Dorking branch of Inchoir.

There was also a plant sale, while another choir member made bespoke name badges for the singers, and the month culminated in a Wear a Hat Day.

inChoir has more than 1,000 members who form 14 adult choirs in 12 different locations. If you are interested in joining, the first session is free of charge.

The Tunbridge Wells branch sings at Crabb Hall, Christchurch on the High Street on Wednesday evenings from 8-9.30pm. If you would like to join, visit www.inchoir.co.uk or call 01342 760078.
