Keen athletes Suzannah Kinsella, 48, and Lloyd Collier, 46, first met at the Tunbridge Wells Triathlon Club’s end-of-season dinner in November 2014.
They then started taking part in parkrun together, and Suzannah has since joined Lloyd at Tunbridge Wells Harriers athletics club, where he is a long-standing member.
Around 30 fellow competitors from the two clubs came along on the Saturday morning parkrun to help celebrate their marriage.
They included Peter Richardson, dressed as a vicar, and his wife Stella, who was sporting a pink tutu.
Suzannah described running in a bridal gown as ‘Surprisingly light and easy – like running in a cloud of love’.
“We received lots and lots of good wishes,” she recalled. “It was a wonderful morning, made particularly special by our friends from the Triathlon Club and the Harriers, all of whom dressed up in the theme of wedding guests.”
The hugely popular 5km run sees more than 500 people taking part every weekend. The free event is non-competitive – and has become renowned for its friendly atmosphere and community spirit.
“It’s very sociable,” said Suzannah. “Parkrun is particularly special as it is for all abilities and you always get a wonderful cheer when you get to the finish.”
Unusually, the couple changed into less formal attire for the ceremony at the Tunbridge Wells registry office, before heading to Eridge Village Hall for the reception.
And there was to be no let-up on their honeymoon, when they went to the Greek Island of Spetses.
“We took part in their mini marathon event, which consisted of a 10k run and a 3k sea swim. But we did also find time to lie by the pool!”
