Pupils, parents and staff at Skinners’ Kent Primary celebrated the official opening of their new school building, which took place last Friday, September 23.
The building, in Knights Wood, was officially opened by Greg Clark, MP for Tunbridge Wells and Secretary of State for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy.
Gemma Faircloth, the school’s Headteacher said: “I am extremely proud of our pupils and I know in this purpose-built school they will thrive and succeed in being lifelong learners.”
The school first opened on September 3, 2015 in temporary accommodation at The Skinners’ Kent Academy.
There are currently three year groups on site, with 30 pupils in reception, 30 in year one and eight in year two.
The school will gradually accommodate 210 pupils, with Oakley offering an inclusive provision for a number of pupils with special educational needs.
Skinners’ Kent Primary School offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme (PYP) alongside the National and Early Years Curriculum, and with The Skinners’ Kent Academy Middle Years Programme and Career-related Programme, this creates a continuum of learning.
The building’s facilities include an all-weather pitch, sports hall, habitat area, specialist teaching rooms and playgrounds.
