The efforts of the town’s volunteer gardeners fully blossomed this week after Tunbridge Wells received a Gold rating at the annual Royal Horticultural Society’s regional ‘In Bloom’ awards.
Tunbridge Wells received the highest accolade in the South & South East for the ‘large town’ category.
As well as the town as a whole, individual parks were recognised for their hard work over the last year – with Dunorlan Park and Woodbury Park Cemetery both receiving Gold ratings.
Several other locations received a Silver Gilt, a recognition of high standards, such as Calverley Grounds, Grosvenor and Hilbert Park and Tunbridge Wells Cemetery, despite it being the first year they had entered.
Chair of Royal Tunbridge Wells in Bloom, Cllr David Elliott, expressed his delight at the results, saying: “We would not be able to achieve any of our success without the support of all our partners, sponsors, Friends groups and volunteers who work hard all year to provide support and help to keep the town looking colourful.”
