October sees a slew of stars appearing at the Assembly Hall Theatre – many of whom are some of the country’s top comedians. They include Sarah Millican, Russell Kane and Jenny Eclair. Here Lilly Croucher reveals why Tunbridge Wells is such a hot spot for humour this month…
If you’re a fan of stand up then Tunbridge Wells is the place to be this month as a host of funny men and women descend on the Assembly Hall theatre. Just last month Ricky Gervais sold out the venue courtesy of his two night stints showcasing his new stand-up routine which is entitled Work in Progress.
And for October there’s another host of hilarious household names coming to town. They include Sarah Millican, Harry Hill and Graham Norton who are all coming to the popular venue to bring their own style of stand up to the masses.
Sarah’s new show – Bobby Dazzler – is her sixth international tour while former doctor Harry Hill brings his current show Pedigree Fun to TW audiences. Former comedian and popular TV presenter Graham Norton meanwhile waxes lyrical about his new book Forever Home. You can also catch Jenny Eclair, Henning Wehn and Russell Kane.
The venue’s Theatre Director, Mikey Powell tells SO magazine: “We’re incredibly proud to bring high class talents to the Assembly Hall Theatre. It’s important we provide something for everyone and feel we’re doing this with high profile performances from the likes of Sara Pascoe, Harry Hill, Russell Kane and of course Ricky Gervais, through to more personal conversation such as our evening with Graham Norton. We want people to associate the Assembly Hall Theatre with performers of this calibre and can’t wait to bring even more top level comedians to Tunbridge Wells.”
