Fine Wines Of Mayfield tell us why they are the perfect choice whether that’s curating a wine list for a special occasion or simply picking a suitable bottle for a simple supper
ine Wines of Mayfield has been established in the Heart of Mayfield Village for almost a decade and in that time has almost become the heart of the village. Jacqueline, who is in the Mayfield shop on Fridays and Saturdays, tells SO Magazine that ‘having a thriving popular shop in the heart of such a lovely village is an idyllic role’ and that she’s ‘honoured to be a part of such a lovely community’.
But now following on from its initial success, Fine Wines of Mayfield has expanded into Tunbridge Wells, with a new shop in Royal Victoria Place.
Owner Paul says the decision to move to Tunbridge Wells was both ‘exciting and scary’ as the difficulties on the High Street are there for everyone to see. “But everyone should have a good wine merchant,” he adds.
“We’ve had such a warm welcome from Tunbridge Wells, so many customers saying they need a good wine shop. Every day I meet interesting people in the shop. Some know a lot about wine, others are looking for a little bit of help with a present or a special wine,” explains Paul.
“It’s great talking to them and assisting them and hopefully recommending the right bottle of wine. Everyone is different and we can usually help them if only to show them where they can get that special bottle of wine they are trying to track down. We do great wines at great prices.”
Paul further explains that Fine Wines of Mayfield have just started to roll out a very superior tasting programme with a recent tasting at the Hotel Du Vin, with Chateau d’Esclans (of Whispering Angel fame).
“The evening was a great success and we now plan to have other brands including CVNE, Pulenta and Piper Heidsieck do separate tastings in the months leading up to Christmas. Cheers!”
