TEN new information panels have adorned both Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall -Commons thanks to the support of two large companies with local interests, Targetfollow and Dandara, and the Friends of Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall Commons.
The local community and tourists are encouraged to come and explore the 256 acres of common land in the middle of town, which features a rich diversity of wildlife, including woods, heathland, lakes, ponds and springs.
The Commons are famous for their unique sandstone outcrops, including Toad Rock and Wellington Rocks.
They are also home to two cricket local clubs as well as a children’s nursery, churches and pubs.
Targetfollow, a property investment, development and asset management company, owns and manages the -Commons along with the Upper Pantiles.
Paul Burnett, the firm’s Associate Director, said: “We are proud to work together with the other Commons conservators in the important role of maintaining and preserving them for the benefit and enjoyment of all.”
Dandara, a property development company, are currently redeveloping Union House – at the end of The Pantiles – to provide residential accommodation, retail units and -community spaces.
The panels have been designed by heritage interpretation experts HDC International and are made of high–quality sustainable materials.
Each panel provides a map showing the location, history and specific features, such as the flora and fauna, that can be found there.
Mr Burnett added: “The new information panels look fantastic and are a welcome addition to Tunbridge Wells and Rusthall Commons.
“They will encourage both residents and tourists alike to explore and learn about the beauty and diversity of the 256 acres of Commons – the countryside in the town.”
