AÂ CHARITY venture in aid of the BBC’s Children in Need completed the Tunbridge Wells leg of its national tour on November 17.
The Big Learner Relay’s driving instructors and their pupils got together for special lessons across the length and breadth of Britain. The cars were covered in spots, which were sponsored by donors.
The Pudsey Top Box was carried from one driving school car to another, and the 3,000-mile marathon – which took 15 days – has so far accrued a total of £79,097.
The Tunbridge Wells leg raised £810 between the seven instructors – Jonathan Turner, Lucy Rawley ,Carissa Cork, Phil Simmonds, Trudi Boyce, Julie Winton and Helen Matthews.
Mr Turner, who provided homemade cupcakes, and his pupil Mairi Darroch were the lead car for the trip from Tunbridge Wells West Station to Lingfield racecourse.
They escorted Lou Walsh, who travelled the entire distance with the Top Box. The relay ended at Donnington, where 84 driving school cars drove round the race track.
