HOSPICE charity ellenor was invited to a reception at 10 Downing Street to celebrate the government’s inaugural Local Charities Day.

The reception on December 14 was hosted by the Secretary of State for Culture, Media & Sport Karen Bradley with the Minister for Civil Society Rob Wilson.

Rachel Holweger, ellenor’s Director of Income Generation, offered ‘a huge thank you to the government for highlighting the impact that local charities make across the UK’.

She added: “We are reliant on our local community in helping us to provide vital support to families facing terminal illness and we also couldn’t continue the work we do without the help of our hard-working volunteers.”

“On Local Charities Day we are shouting from the rooftops about small, local charities – their energy, commitment, expertise and the benefits they bring to their communities,” said Mr Wilson.

ellenor is the only charity in Kent that provides hospice care for people of all ages and their families.

This includes pain and symptom relief, end-of-life care, respite, bereavement support and emotional and spiritual care. For more information visit www.ellenor.org
