Plaxtol Village Stores has relaunched itself in a ‘farm shop’ style, stocking a wide range of local produce and supporting businesses in Tonbridge and Sevenoaks.
Bal Pardesi, the shop’s owner, said: “All villagers loved the new farm shop look and were thrilled for what this meant for the community as a whole.
“Plaxtol Village Stores will be focusing on stocking locally-produced and Taste of Kent products, all of which are tirelessly keeping our local communities alive.”
The reopening featured a complimentary tasting menu and cocktails, showcasing all local food, spirits, wines and juices.Â
Retailers included Greensand Ridge Gin in the neighbouring village of Shipbourne, Chapel Down Winery in Tenterden, Chai Stop curry makers in Minster and Taste by Chianne from Gravesend.
Tasting sessions also included freshly home-made gluten-free meals, Greedy Goat ice cream, Simply Ice Cream, Cook meals and Whitstable Larder sausage rolls.
The shop and Post Office has been the heart of the local community since the first postmaster opened up in the village, near Tonbridge, in 1844.Â
Ms Pardesi added: “The shop has seen many changes to the village of Plaxtol over the past 170 years, but we still pride ourselves on being a staple part of the community, stocking the finest local produce and supporting other businesses in the areas of Sevenoaks and Tonbridge.”
