Tonbridge bids farewell to its only nightclub

TONBRIDGE is about to lose its only nightclub when the well-used venue on Avebury Avenue closes after one last big party on Christmas Eve.

The Hub Creative Space formerly housed the Peak Fitness gym as well as the club in its previous incarnations as Ice, Source of Sound – also known as SOS – and Amp.

It will be turned into 14 residential apartments and a new gym.

The Christmas Jumper Party, billed as the ‘official Source of Sound reunion – the last night of clubbing in Tonbridge ever’, is hosted by Ali Jeerooburkhan.

Ali, who went to Tonbridge School, owned the club for 10 years before selling it in 2015. He is also proprietor of Bar Fusion in Tunbridge Wells.

The event will run from 9pm on December 24 to 3am and entry costs £5 – ravers will receive a free shot if they wear a -Christmas jumper.

The DJs will include some of the biggest names down the years, including Ali himself, Nick NME Shaw, l’il guy, Morph and Matt Sauly.

Matt recalled: “Lots of us remember the SOS foam parties, school discos, drum & bass events such as Pure Science, and also the massive queue to get in back in the early days. Don’t forget the half-yard -cocktails.”
