An evaluation of West Kent College’s courses at its Tunbridge Wells campus has avoided compulsory redundancies, according to its management.
Consultation with 50 staff working at the North Farm site had taken place this summer, with courses being largely transferred to its main Tonbridge site.
The University and College Union had voiced concerns over potential job losses as part of the move of the campus – which West Kent College says will be replaced with a multi-million facility planned for its core campus.
According to parent company the Hadlow Group, which bought the financially struggling K College in 2014 and returned it back to the original West Kent College name, the Tunbridge Wells site is to remain partially open for practical courses.
Jane Salzer, Group Director of HR, said: “The consultation period is now complete and we have been successful in minimising the impact on our staff. It has not been necessary for us to make any compulsory redundancies.
Mark Lumsdon-Taylor, Group Deputy Principal & Group Deputy Chief Executive, said: “The Tunbridge Wells site has been repositioned within the business. The majority of our programs have been moved to our £100million state-of-the-art campus at Tonbridge.
