Depp, 55, who this time last year divorced wife Amber Heard in a very public and acrimonious split, is rumoured to be considering buying Davina McCall’s £3.2million mansion in Wadhurst.
The actor, who rose to international stardom following the film Edward Scissorhands, was spotted in the Middle House, Mayfield on Sunday, and it is not the first time he has been in the pub.
“He was in with his manager and a couple of other people,” said a pub regular who wished not to be named.
“He came in the Sunday before too, but we get quite a few celebrities in here. The other week we had Jeff Beck, Cate Blanchett and Davina McCall all on the same day.”
The star, who did little to hide his appearance, wearing a cowboy hat and scarf, posed for a few selfies with regulars put mainly ‘kept to himself’.
“He tends to sit with his back to the room so most people do not know he’s there,” said the pub regular.
Depp’s latest film, City of Lies, a crime drama about the murder of rapper Notorious BIG, was reportedly beset with problems due to the actor’s erratic on-set behaviour.
But the Hollywood A-lister could be seeking a more tranquil future, as locals believe he has been to see Davina McCall’s sprawling six-bedroom home in Wadhurst, which comes complete with 38 acres of private parkland, its own swimming pool, tennis court and private access to the local train station.
The former Big Brother presenter has had the property on the market since her split with husband Matthew Robertson last year.
The property, which was listed on estate agent Savills website before Christmas, is no longer showing for sale.
